As we have before observed, there is and has been more danger from panic-.-trieken depositors rushing upon up-on banks, no matter how sound, yet unable to meet, on the instant, in currency, every demand made upon them, than there is in any present disarrangement of finance, or depreciation depre-ciation in the capital of hanks. The country has been blessed with a bounteous boun-teous harvest, its resources are ample to meet every requirement ; and if thecxcilcd crowds of depositors would calm themselves for a few days, until business resumed its wonted channels, they would find that the greatest evil suffered is the bursting ot a few railroad rail-road bubbles, and the ruin of men who foolishly furnished the money to inflate them. How is it with Utah ? Well ; we believe. Our farmers have gathered an abundant harvest ; our mines arc steadily increasing in yield, and arc producing the silver, lead and copper which tho world cannot do' withou t; our railroad enterprises arclsubstantial ones, with certainty of success ; and though there maybe a brief stagnation stagna-tion of business, consequent upon the disarranged condition of financial affairs, it seems improbable that it can be of long duration. The mines will bring money; tho sale of tho farmers' produce will cause that money to circulate cir-culate ; and with a large majority of the population as comfortably situated situat-ed as are the agriculturists of Utah for the present winter, serious financial finan-cial embarrassments in the Territory arc not to be thought of at fhis juncture. junc-ture. ! |
