Show How Corimic Celebrated. Corinue, I. The celebration hero to-day was a magnificent affair. An excursion train from ogau with 300 ladies and gentlemen arrived, at 11 o'clock, followed by tho regular Utah North express with nearly as many more from the settlements. The number of Mormon visitors from this and adjacent counties was about 2,000, coming in by every kind of conveyance. Many from Kcl ton, Buel, Ogdeu and Maladwere present. At 12 o'clock tho procession inarched kijthe Opera House while salutes were fired, tho church bells rung, and cheers greeted tho visitors at every step. Mayor Graham presided over the meeting and made an address ad-dress of welcome. Then caine prayer pray-er by Dr. Jameson, of tho Methodist church, followed by the singing of the Nation's Anthem by the united chorus of Logan and Corinne. J. H. Farnum read, the Declaration of Independence. A poem written and read by Nat Stein was received with LTeat enthusiasm, and an elouuent oration was delivered by Judge Toohy. The meeting closed with the benediction bene-diction pronounced by Hon. Moses Thatcher, of Logan. Afterward the entire multitude ate a bountiful col-lalion, col-lalion, gotten up by tho Corinno folks. Friendship and patriotism made common fea-'t. The afternoon was devoted to dancing in the Opera House, driving alxjut the city and visiting, every residence being open to the guests. At 5 o'clock the Logan excursion train left forborne, having been escorted to the station by nearly all Corinno. A large number of strangers remain over to-night to attend at-tend the evening festivities and witness wit-ness the fire-works. The people here are delighted with their magnificent celebration while outsiders lavish praises on the hospitality of Corinne. |
