A courier from the citizen's camp reports three met ropolitanB killed and lour wounded, within two squares of the oourt house, where colonel Badger has concentrated his forces. Citizens are collecting from evory portion of Attakappas. The most ot the recruits are of the better class, well mounted and generally armed with breech-loading Bhot-guos. So far young men, principally, have gone into the field. Married men in the towns are watching the movements of the negroes to organize and preparing prepar-ing to frustrate them. The captains of steamboats have been warned not to transport armed metropolitans, and consequently did not bring those at the Bay, knowing thoir beats would be blown up. The entire bayou of Teehe is under surveillance by well organized boaies of citizens. Kellogg troops oan only reach St. Martinsville by fighting their way up the bayou. It is generally gener-ally supposed an engagement took place last night but no reports are received re-ceived up to the present hour. Brashcar City, La., 7. The grand jury have passed resolutions to have Kellogg Kel-logg and his officers appear before them on charge of usurping the government gov-ernment of Louisiana. Judge Abell ordered the report filed and subpoenas to be issued for the parties to appear before the grand jury, also to report against the metropolitan polioe. A ootemporary is of the opinion that nothing was too low for the forty sec-ond sec-ond congress. This ia a mistake, for their salary was too low ; so the members mem-bers raised it, by lowering themselves. them-selves. Application will be made in New York for the arrest of a certain foreign consul, on a charge of misapplyine funds appropriated to the purchase of articles for this government. |
