Show Attempted Suicide. The Ogden Junction of Wednesday evening had the following : A young man evidently suffering from mania-a-poli, attempted to kill himself yesterday afternoon. After indulging in potations at a talooa to an extent beyond the limits of prudence, pru-dence, he pulled a rope out of his pocket and declared his intention of hanging himself. He said he had lost $400, all his worldly possessions ; he was penniless and had no friends to help him. In front of the house io which he had then been imbibing he tied the rope to- the head-board of an awning, and filed a noose into which bo placed hid neck. Everything being prepared to his satisfaction he made a jump; and came down with a thump. Ho wouid havo been strangled to death but for tho timely assistance of a companion, who cut the rope. When ho was relieved from tho encumbrance his face was black, and his tongue protruded pro-truded from his mouth. Ho waa at once taken to jail, where he spent tho night. This morning he went to kSalt Lake City. |
