Show It iii't IE i veVl iiric I . This district, situated in the Kaft Itiver mountains, Utah, the northern Injuudary being the line between th! Territory and Idaho, is slowly hut steadily growing into popularity. The first location in he district was made on the -27th of June, last, by V. II. Silver k Co., since which time twenty claims have been recorded. On one ledge, claimed to he probably the best deiined in tho Territory, six locations have been made by as many d:.'L;e companies, making a total of 0,000 feet In length. The ledge is said to crop out on the surface for at j least o,000 feet, and varies in width from two to twenty feet of mineral and vein matter. Wo were shown, j'csterday, .specijuens of milling ore Liken from various points on the lode, some of which assayed as high as $l,o00 in silver and about 10 gold, per ton, while the lowest assay was $300 per ton in silver and gold. From a gentleman well acquainted wiih all of the districts in the Territory, Terri-tory, we learn that Raft River possesses possess-es advantages for development over many others. The mineral, so far as discovered, lies in a belt of country flvp niijcs long by two and a half wide, through which runs George Crock, a stream of water sufficient for milling purposes, and there is an abundance of umber easy of access. Several companies have miners at work developing lends, and before long Raft Uivcr district will be numbered num-bered among the ore-producing camps i of the Territory. |
