Show I' I nli Specimens for tho Inter-Htute Inter-Htute Fnir. Mr. Geo. W. Grntton, special land and passenger agent of tho U. P. I?., B., is in town with a view to secure specimens of the products and manufactures manu-factures of this region to place on exhibition ex-hibition in the Chicago Inter-State Exposition. He has been gathering and making arrangements for receiving receiv-ing such Bpecunons along the line of railroad through Nebraska, Wyoming and Utah; and as the lands of the Union Pacific, aggregating some twelve millions of acres, reaching twenty miles on either side of the line of rails, and taking in each alternate section, a large shore of Utah Terri tory will be called upon to contribute ite products to the exhibition. It is desired that the people of Salt Lake do their share towards filling the space devoted to this Territory with fair specimens of its industries. All articles contributed may be left with Messrs. Sclby &, Guntcr, at their assay as-say office under White it McCor-nick's McCor-nick's bank. Mr. G ration is anxious to have all contributions made promptly, so that the collection may bo complete this week. The specimens speci-mens will be labelled, so as to designate desig-nate tho owner, his residence, &c, and, after the .Exposition, the collection collec-tion is to be distributed between tho three chief officers of the Union Pacific road, in Omaha, Chicago, and New York, where they will be placed in cabinets for exhibition. This gives tle widest display of the articles. At Chicago a hundred thousand catalogues of these various contributions will be distributed. distribu-ted. The advantage to contributors will therefore be readily understood. As the Exposition is to be a grand at-, fair, it would be well fur the Union Pacific road lo arrange excursion rates for persons along their Hue, who may be desirous of visiting Chicaqo at that lime. j |
