Show UTAH MIXES AND TilA.DE. The St. Louis Globe of March 3d, has this to say about Utah mines: The hilver mineB of Utah Bccm to be remarkably prosperous just now. They are equaling in richness any which have yet been discovered on the continent. conti-nent. The celebrated Emma mine has proved a mint of untold wealth, and now comes the Winnamuck mine, in Bingham Canyon, which immediately on being opened is sold for nearly hall a million- The products of these mines, with others already opened, are supplying supply-ing not less than ten smelting furnaces in that Territory, and much of the ore is being sent to the States. The Tulare mine, also in Bingham Canyon, though of more recent discovery, gives promise of great productiveness, showing show-ing large qualities of ores of unusual richness. These ores are described as easily worked and convenient for cheap transportation. With these inexhaustible inexhaus-tible mines ef Utah, and those of Colorado Colo-rado and New Mexico, all connected with this city more intimately than with any other, St Louis might easily become celebrated for its silver as it now is for its iron. One smelting furnace fur-nace now in operation here is receiving considerable Quantities from Utah. Yet it is tut a speck compaied with what the resources of these rich mines can supply. The Globe although a strong adaiin-j adaiin-j istration organ, has had very little to say of the late pressure in congress for legislation cn Utah matters. The above indicates the view of the subject taken by that paper. |
