Show The Street Cars. Mr. Orson Arnold, the superintendent superinten-dent of the street railroad, informal us last evening that the company was doing everything in its power for the a ceo mm oil at ion and convenience of those who ride on the road. The reason rea-son why the cars did not rtui on the First South street branch, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, was on account ac-count of the storm softening the roadbed, road-bed, making it unsafe to travel on. ITis we can endorse from personal observation last night. There has never b"fore been a storm on the road east of tho turn-table on Sixth East street, and the track has not become firmly set. That part of the line is being properly ballasted, and Mr. Arnold assures us that in a few days the public will have littlo cause to complain. Another cause of annov- ancc is tho stopping of the cars on Second East street, to change teams, but that will bo remedied in a short time, when tho stable, now being built at the eastern terminus of the track, is finished. Then tho changing chang-ing of animals will be done at th.it point and the cars will be run on regular time. |
