Show Extensive Smelting Works. Messrs. Orson k B-izzo have a furceof men at present employed on ' the erection of the nOst extensive i smelling works in Ut-ili, and we im-j im-j agine in the west, which are being j built opposite West Jordan on the I cast side of the river, and r.oilh from j their present wurks the Galena smvlur jiiiL across the track of the ! Bingham canon railroad. Here they ; have purchased forty aires of laud at $7o an acre, and are putting up works to run ten more furnaces, four reverbe-ratory,and six coiistructed most . likely on a modification of the Mac-Konic Mac-Konic patent. The main building will be 200x40 feet in extent, containing contain-ing the reverberator" furnaces, fuel room, ore rooms, ic; while the luw-cr luw-cr building adjoining will be lGtx33 fec-t, and will contain the six smelting smelt-ing furnaces. The coaipany are considering con-sidering plans lor saving and utilizing the out How of smoke and dust, which is rich in silver, and will pay well for saving. That some idea may be formed of the importance of these works, we may add that when completed, com-pleted, with the three furnaces of the present Galena work?, they will have a capacity of about fifty tons of crude bullion daily, or say a hundred and fifty Ions of ore; requiring an outlay by the company for fuel, teaming, wages and other expenses the ore being their own of over twenty thousand dollars a week! Mr. Smith, the superintendent, superintend-ent, is a competent gentleman, with large experience in his business. The Galena works have two furnaces furna-ces running this morning, and will shortly have the three. The Sheridan Hill smelter, close by, is putting up a revcrberatory furnace. |
