Show TH!SU8LSS MOll A JL THAN BITS-TEHIOUS. BITS-TEHIOUS. Scipio, Millard Co., U.T., April 20, 1873. Editors Herald; We havo been in daily expectation of seeing an articlo in tho Herald, or somo other good paper, on the all absorbing.topic ''The civilization and moral improvement of the people of Utah." Our reason for such expectation is that wo havo been favored with the presence of two reformers, (lady? and gentloman?), for the past few days. The gentleman arrived here por mail cach ono morning and tho lady per mail coach the next. The gentleman has been moving quietly orouod, doubtless doubt-less simply taking items, whilst the lady has been visiliDg around oracu-lously oracu-lously descanting on the ovils of polygamy. poly-gamy. Too two are living here together, as man and wife, and tho lady speaks very kindly'of her husband(V) From the time of arrival of the lady, and a paragraph para-graph in your paper concerning a fracas in your city between two"soiied doves," wherein a ohampagne bottle was used freely and a few other trifles, also the advent of another lady this morning per coach, who seems, by inquiry, to : be much interested in tho whereabouts of the first two, we havo wondered, could there bo any connection with your paragraph and tho abovo parties? par-ties? There has beeu talk of prosecuting attorneys, lascivious conduot, houses of assignation, etc.; but wo have the fear of opinions, writs of habeas corpus and theliko, befom onr eyes, and forbear. Yours, etc., Observer. Later: Things did look for a little while this morning as though Utah might be minus a regenerator. Lady No. 2 admitted that she acd No. 1 were the principal? in the fracas referred re-ferred to; she also hired a horse and an Cecort to take her to Fillmore ; before be-fore starting, she proceeded to interview inter-view tho gentleman and No. 1, but they declined to bo interviewed, but were represented by deputy, and it's said money cbanijcd hands to settie. No. 2 was well armed, and that, in connection with sundry and divrs threa:?, produced pro-duced a stampede, acd the way No. 1 and her partner doducd around Iny-staek Iny-staek and fence was lively to say tho least. No. 2 and her chivalrous escort departed de-parted houth, the iady remarking the "end was no: yet." O. |
