The Weather During tho past week has been balmy and spring hko, aod wore it not for tho oarpot of beautiful boow that oovers our energetic littlo city, wo would bo out in our spring attire, and our business houses would rival in their receipts the best in Salt Like city; but the snow underneath is too suggestive of winter. The rushes do not grow green on tho banks of Littlo Cottonwood. Cotton-wood. ' Wo are too High tor Comfort Or pleasure, and we beg the great promoter pro-moter of all good to forgive us this once and wo will not trespass on the domains of the ice king another season; hut as he is just losing his grip, under the genial influences of a glorious buo, wo will abide here during the so oallcd summer months. In spite of the snow, business of all kinds ia improving. The receipts of our merchants aro daily growing larger, and everything points forward to a successful season's work, both in merchandizing and mining. The Emma Owing to tho fire, which destroyed des-troyed the buildings at the mouth of the Emma tunnel, they did not ship their usual amount of ore. Pifiy-throe tons is their rcoord for the week. They have now recommenced shipping. The machinery and hoisting works are again in order. Thoy have also commenced com-menced to ercot new buildings, and hope to have all traoes of the fire removed re-moved during the week. The Flagstaff Have shipped about seventy-five tons. Thoy have been busy ia removing remov-ing the Bnow from their tramway, and have only been shipping enough ore to keep their smelter supplied. Everything Every-thing will bo in order this week for a good record. , The Yallcjo Is still under aboyanoo on account of water; this howevor will soon be remedied. reme-died. Wo want to see that wire tramway tram-way rushing down the argentiferous; it attraots attention and looks lively. The Wellington Havo shipped thirty tons during the week, and have a large amount on hand ready for shipment; but the worm weather that has prevailed during dur-ing tho week, has made tho trail so soft that it is almost impossible to transport tho ore to Alta. ft "' The Davenport 1 Have shipped sixty tons. This oould have been increased were it not for the bad stato of the roads between Alta and tho mine. Their shipments continue con-tinue every day in about the same proportion. pro-portion. Men are engaged in clearing the road between hero and Grizzlv Flat so that sleighs oan go to the mine. The mine has plenty of ore on hand and will increase its shipments as soon aa the roads and weather will permit. per-mit. . City Rock. Wo give the first record this season fcr the City Rook. Prom present appearances appear-ances this mine docs not intend to bo behind any of tho best propersics in Little Cottonwood. They have shipped fifty tons during the week and havo a large accumulation of oro at the mine; and expect to continue their shipments at muoh larger figures than the above, during the season. We have plenty of oro on hand up here; and alt that theupcrintendents aro waiting for is a general clearing up of the woather,and for tho roads to get in a comparatively good condition. The high price of freight, from here to the mouth of tho canyon, eats up a large percentage of the profits on the oro, The Wlmlnor Group, The Princo of Wales, the Caledonia and tho Reed & Benson havo large quantities of ore on hand, but do not intend to commence shipping until the snow disappears from tho roads. .- We havo at last risen to tho dignity of a . Dally Paper. It chronicles all the latest local news, and gives us tho most important telegraphic tele-graphic dispatches. It is small in size; but what it lacks in that, it makes up in energy and spice. Its circulation is rapidly increasing, aad we soon expect to see it enlarged in requirement to tho increasing business of Alta.
