The clergy gave Dr. Henry C. Potter, Pot-ter, of New York, 27, I)r. Jamos Dekoven, of Kacine, Wisconsin. 28, Dr. Benjamin Paddock 13, and four scattering. The laity gave Lckovon 30, Potter and Paddock 20. In accordance accord-ance with positive instructions tho name of the Be v. Dr. Potter was then withdrawn, and the clergy again balloted with tto following result: Paddoek 4, Dekoven 34. Oq tho second sec-ond ballot by the laity, Paddock received re-ceived 41, and Dekoven 34 of the 82 votes ca-t. Tho namo of Dr. Dix, who had received a very small vote, was hero withdrawn, and after a warm discussion as to tho mcrita of Dr. Dekoven tho convention adjourned till 4 p4 m. |
