Show Foul Smells. The noisome effluvia efflu-via of the alley in the roar of the east side ol'East Temple street, has become so strong'y offensive of late that com-plainls com-plainls have been uttered loud and deep; and ihe night carts have been at work during tho hours when sensitive nostrils arc breathing the somnolent air of bed-chambers. Yesterday we saw officer A. Burt busy in the region named, holding three-quarters of a nostril as he passed an excavation being made for a cellar, which emitted a smell tho most villainous that we have encountered for a long time. With the growth of the cily greater efforts must be made to keep a purer atmos-phero atmos-phero in thickly inhabited localities, fur such places as tho alley referred to aro tho breeding pianos of deadly diseases. |
