Show Theatre. Mr. Stetson's new drama, "Illusion, or the Dream of Life," was performed for the first time last night. It is much superior to the ordinary style of trashy stuff usually throwo upon the market by certain play-wrights. It is well digested aud powerfully written, abounding in excellent excel-lent points; and there is little doubt that 31r. Utctson will rake it a great success. His playing in it last night was very fine, and tho support was good throughout. A press upon our columns this morning (precludes our noticing the play and tho playing at greater length; but we perceive from the advertisement that it will be repeated" re-peated" again to-night, when Mr. Stetson Stet-son makes his last appearance but one herp. To morrow evening ho will tuko a farewell benefit, and oloso his engage-i engage-i uient; the minstrels opening on Thursday Thurs-day night. |
