Show THE EJLUCTl.i.V. The agony is over, the peoples have voted, and the corporation has its officers for two years more. The day passedjoff with much quietness; and die only little frictions that occurred were scarcely worth mentioning. A great many votes were challenged at the polls, and a number of those thus challenged were unable to stand the usual questioning with swearing tacked to the end of it. The ladies exercised their elective right in large numbors.and voted either tiaket as best pleased themselves. Some active gentlemen of the opposition expressed themselves them-selves highly satisfied with the fairness and proper manner in which the election elec-tion was conducted, a fact which should be duly noticed by those who are forever for-ever shouting about unfairness, and at the same time are ever endeavoriag to act unfairly and illegally. A great many Gentiles voted the People's ticket straight, fully prepared for the abuse which is "liberally" heaped upon up-on all that may differ in opinion from the minority that so readily flop I around from "liberal party" to "na-! "na-! tional party" save the mark! The j vote polled was, we think, the largest I yet cast in the city, 1.S4G ballots being deposited at the county court-house, and 3,115 at the city hall, making a total of 4,9(31.
