Show Tiikathe. "Jessie Brown" was very well played last night, the leading characters being in the hands of Miss Adams, Mrs. Bowring, Messrs. Thorne, Dudley, Harris, Dunne, Wilton and Marden. At the close, a prolonged call from the audience brought Miss Adams (Jctsie) and Mr. Thorne (Randal) (Ran-dal) to the footlights, who bowed their acknowledgments: Mrs. Matthiesson made her first appearance ap-pearance after the play, and showed evidences of nervousness which somewhat some-what marred the effect of her singing. She las a sweet and powerful voice, and if a rapport with the audience wouid fce a decided success. We recommended re-commended her to view the numerous heads before her as so many cabbage heads, as an old stage manager once advised a young and talented aspirant for fame to do. The lady was encored. To-night "The Duel in the Snow," a highly-wrought and cleverly constructed play, will bo performed, followed with singing by Mrs. Matthiesson, and singing sing-ing and dancing by Harry Lorraine. ! Tiie rollicking farce of "The House Dog" concludes. |
