Show GENERAL. Fearful Boiler Explosion. Montgomery, Ala., 20. A boiler 'in the Hardimore mill, twenty miles north ofMontgomery, exploded yesterday, yester-day, Five wero killed and one fatally injured. One person was hurled 100 yards and torn into frapmcntf; another was blown fifty yards and terribly maugled. The mill was a total wreck. Dpatructlve Fire. Cleveland, 20. The American sheet and boiler works, at Ncwberg, Ohio, were burned early this morning. The buildings burned covered an area of about four acres. Loss, $40,000, partly covered by insurance. The company will rebuild at ouce. The works furnished employment for 140 i men. Cause of the fire unknown. Hoflgc Accomplices. New York, 2G. Eugene L. Jackson and Jas. A. Polhcmus, brokers, 00 Exchange Place, were arrested to day on the charge of conspiracy with defaulting de-faulting paymaster Ilodge, to defraud the United' States on April 20. The bail of each was accepted. The accused accus-ed declare they are innocent; they were Hodge's local ngents. Butler 'a ProspuclM. Springfield, Mass., 20. The Republican Re-publican returns show the election of 1,001 delegates to the Worcester convention, con-vention, of whom 432 arc for Butler and 029 against him; majority over Butler 197; These figures allow Butler But-ler the Springfield delegations, and nearly every other contested case. Alfred White will probably be the temporary, and J. A. Griswold the permanent, chairman of the State convention, but the leaders evince a purpose to try and conciliate and harmonize. The present intention is to present three propositions, proposi-tions, relative to the local contest in New York: tho first to endorse and sustain the State committee's action in organizing the party; tho second to authorize the State committco to perfect per-fect said organization, thus providing a means for curing any existing defects and completing the enrolment of all Republicans of either wing ; the third, if this is accepted by the Greeley and-Fenton and-Fenton men, both the New York delegations dele-gations arc to be admitted on equal leniip.
