Alter, a discussion, in which Cuyler contended that preaching preach-ing by women was not prohibited by the books of church govcrnn:ent,nor by the Bible, and that it was merely a question of conscience and common ! sense, and in which views he was sus-i sus-i taincd by several members of the pres-' pres-' bytcry, the matter was referred to a ! cimuiiitce, who subsequently reported a document to the effect that it was I tneon-iscenl with the rules of the 'church to allow a woman to preach, j This was discussed until six o'clock, I when the presbytery adjourned till to-! to-! morrow. |
