For the past month the ball mania has continued on an average three or four nights a week, and fj uitc a number more ore announced. Last night, for the tirst time in Ogdcn, "Richard III." was put upou the boards, aud played to a crowded house, in which Mr. J. W. Carter appeared as Richard, Mr. F. A. Shields as King Henry, and Miss Carrie Carter as Richmond and Lady Ann. The entertainment enter-tainment concluded with tho cxtrava-gacia cxtrava-gacia of tho "Four T. Thieves." During the evening, Mr. Carter presented pre-sented to the handsomest lady in tho audienco a beautiful China tea set, und to tho handsomest gentleman a sack of Hour. Tho audienco voted the former to Mrs. Carter, (who subsequently subse-quently presented it to Miss Purdy) and the latter to your old friend "Joseph." There has been no sleighing and but little skating hero this season. Tho comparatively light frosts have rendered ren-dered ico a scarce article; hut those who arc mostly interested in tho matter mat-ter are busy, even to-day, hauling the congealed water to their store houses to preserve it for summer use. hor some time past quite a number ! |
