Show Resisting a Lgal Process. On Monday a warrant was issued for the arrest of Joseph Silver, on the old charge of selling conds without a license, li-cense, and ho agreed to appear yesterday yester-day morning at JO o'clock. Failing to appear at the time, or for somo hours after, the officer who served the warrant war-rant went to his pLice on East Temple street, to ascertain the cause of his non-appearance. Some words passed between them, the officer inquiring when he would attend at court, and Silver intimating that ho did not know that ho would attend at all. The officer offi-cer considering that an arrest should be made proceeded to make it, and Silver made br his pistol, but failing to reach it ho grabbed a piok-handle to resist the arrest. Two officers seized him and took him to tho city hall, where the case was continued until Thursday for resisting an officer and until Monday on the other charge of selling goods without license; he being held in his personil recognizance in $'200 to appear. Thsrc was some little stir on the street in consequence of tho arrct, and it looked as if it was a planned affair by Silver to create excitement, seeing that he had agreed to appear at 10 o'clock and deliberately kept away. |
