Show Phice of ijiiiAi.N. The Vallojo Recorder Re-corder speaks on this matter as fol lows : indications are that the price of grain will be high. Dispatches of yesterday yes-terday from the west and northwest report unfavorably regarding the prospects pros-pects for grain, and indicate that the crops will fall short of the average. In Minnesota, one of the first grain states of the northwest, serious apprehen sions are expr sse i that the wheat crop will be badly injured In Europe the season has been unfavorable, and the crop will be short. That being the ca;e, California wheat will be iu demand, and necessarily command a higher price. It is now supposed that the yield in this state will be nearly equal to that of last year although in counties the grain has been much dam aged by drouth and north winds, yet in others the crop is good and promises prom-ises well. We will probably have several sev-eral million bushels more than will be demanded for home consumption, which at the enhanced prices wil. make up for any deficiency in the quantity. |
