Show A curious discovery of some relics of "ye olden time" has just been made in Rngland. As some workmen were digging in the ruins of Wagmore castle, Herefordshire, in early days the property and residence of the Mortimer family, they came upon the solid masonry of an arched roof, and, on rr moving one or two of the laige stones, lound a dungeon, communicating communica-ting with another of qual size, eauh about fifteen feet square, and covered with arch stone roof's I hey were approached ap-proached by means of stone staircases, which have been buried in the rubbish of the ruins for many years. In the stone-work ot the siJe walls were itn bedded large, strong iron staples, supposed sup-posed to have been used for securing' prisoners during the civil wrs. The dunueon contained a few bones in a very deciyed state and some lead rolled up. |
