Show CHANGING TIIK GAl'GK OF THE OKOVILLK RAILROAD. Kaiiy on Sunday morning, says the Marysville Appeal of the 4th instant, the work of changing tbo gauge of the Uroville road is to bo commenced, and no liltlo interest is felt in tho work, from tho fact that it is proposed to conclude it during the day. The plan of operations will be as follows : On Saturday night all the workmen in the employ of the California Pacific Railroad Rail-road Company will go to Oroville, and from there to commence operations. At 5 o'clock on Sunday morning the party, provided with all the necessary tools, hand ears, etc, will start in this direo-tion, direo-tion, dropping four men and a foreman one mile and a quarter this side of Oroville, and then every two miles and a half a gang of eight men and two foremen. These latter will divide the work in opposite directions, and as their mile and a quarter of track is completed, com-pleted, they by means of hand cars will fleet down the road. Thus, as they get toward this end of the track, each gang becomes materially increased, and the progress of the work in proportion. But one side of the track is to be changed, that is, moved a distance of three and a half inches, and with the above plans of operation, it is now expected ex-pected that the work will be completed com-pleted inside of eight hours. |
