Show KCAM)A1 III tho namo of a virtuous and outraged out-raged community wo protest against the slanderous reports now being circulated cir-culated in tho outside districts concerning concern-ing tho moral status of our citizen and eitizenesso.H. A fellow camo in from Mineral Hill yesterday and gravely informed in-formed us that tho report was current thero and gouerally believed, that fourteen four-teen divorce cises were filed in our District Dis-trict Court. Others who arrived here from Battle Mountain mentioned rumors ru-mors floating thero to tho same effect, and now comes the Ely Record from tho virtuous town of Piocho, who docs not mince matters, but gives the names of some of our prominent families. Wo aro glad to have tho matter presented in a tangible shape, as it gives an opportunity of effectually contradicting all these slanderous reports. Fourteen divorce cases! Just think of it! Why Judge McKenney would have to send to Indi ana to procure the assistance of an Associate As-sociate J udge familiar with this particular partic-ular branch of tho judiciary. No sir, our married people aro as happy as clams at high tide. We have no epirit-ulists epirit-ulists among us hunting affinities, and no Don J uans sloshing around worthy of mention. Ours is a staid and virtuous community. Our men might safely be intrusted with the morals of a young ladies' seminary; our women are like C.'csar's wile, and our girls as pure and chaste as "Diana on the moon." You can say all you please about us, call our mines "wild cat," our city "ancient," "an-cient," or whatever else you please; but when it conies to our women we say "handsoff." Reese River Reveille. |
