Of course it has; and if anybody doubts it, he or she has only to live a block or so from where a uumber of enthusiastic learn ers are working themselves into an ag-nnv ag-nnv over the melodious sounds of ket tie drum and fife, uutil about half past teu nearly every night. The worst of it is, the dulcet sounds keep ranging in the listeners' heads, and play the deuce with the usual nocturnal repose. Or if that dose isn't enough, try the experiment of residing a few doors from a couple of trombones thiee bas soons ard several base viols, as they whale away at three low notes, running run-ning up and down with quartette of grunts and an addendum of solemn groans. Is it preparation for the na 'ional holiday? It so, bear it all with the air and patience of willing martyrs. |
