Show That Carrion. The following communication com-munication from Professor J. L. Bar-foot, Bar-foot, of tho Museum and Menagerie, will explain how that carrion came to be on the street where it should not have been. Of course no one will suppose sup-pose for a moment that the Professor or any one connected with the institution institu-tion which he superintends would knowingly permit an infraction of the city ordinances, or do anything that would militate against the pubho welfare: wel-fare: Museum and Menagerie, 1 April 20, 1S71. Editors Herald : I regret that offensive matter should have been thrown in the public streets by one of our job wagon drivers. The owner of the wagon has explained to me that "his son, and another young man, unaccustomed to business, had supposed that, as rubbish was thrown there, that also could be added." My attention being drawn to the matter, I write to you to exonerate the city officers, and to thank you for taking notice of a circumstance that, while I shall take care it does not occur again, happened without my knowledge, and contrary to the stipula-1 tions of the man employed. I am well acquainted with the owner of the job wagon, who, I believe to to be a sensible and well-meaning man, I therefor hope that the city authorities will receive my explanation and apology. I remain, gentlemen, 1 ours fraternally, Jos. L. Barfoot. |
