Show The "Aaiericus Club." The "Americus Club" of New York, numbering num-bering a hundred and sixty members. and having its club rooms at 129 Fifth Avenue, is one of the most influential influ-ential social organizations jn the United Uni-ted States, having among its members some of the millionaires as well as some of the most influential political leaders of Gotham. Hon. Wm. M. Tweed is president, as well as the Grand Sachsm of Tammany. A party of twelve members of the club, left New York for California on the 25th, making mak-ing brief slays at Chicago and Omaha, and arriving in this city on Sunday. They traveled in the magnificent Wagoner Wag-oner palace car "William M, Tweed," the first of this build that has crossed the continent, and we think tho first palace oar that has crossed dirept from, New York city, and certainly one of the finest that ever came to this city. Yesterday morning the party visited the Tabernacle, the Warm Springs, and the principal places in the city, and expressed themselves exceedingly gratified and pleased with their brief stay in towD. They left in the afternoon, after-noon, traveling up to Ogden with the party going to meet Delegate Hooper, much pleasant and social intercourse marking the short trip. The gentlemen gentle-men aro all men of position. Their names are : Owen M. Brennan, Commissioner Com-missioner of Charities and Corrections, New York City, Vice-President of the club and President of the excursion party; par-ty; Geo. H. Mitchell, Alderman of the city and county of New Y"ork, and treasurer of the party; Wm. H. Ma-loney, Ma-loney, clerk of the Board of Aldermen, New York, and Secretary of the party: Judge J. E. Coulter, of the 4th Judicial Judi-cial District, New York; Peter Trainer, Deputy Tax Commissioner, New Yrork; Dr. Andrews, physician to the party; Edward Donnelly, Edward Kearney, Thos. Donohue, Thos. Maloney, Sen., John R. Piatt and Francis McCabe, prominent merchants atlli brokers of New York. Their car was in charge of the gentlemanly gen-tlemanly conductor, James D. Scott. |
