Show WllERE ARE WE GOING ? We publish this morning an unusually startling start-ling item, which tells of corruption in - high places. We arc more than thankful that Congress has placed her seal of indignation on the infamous transaction. No wonder we ask, time and again, how long this nation wi.l bear the turpitude of its public ser vants. n eek lifter week, month after month, men have shown their infamous in-famous veiuiliiy by damnably accepting accept-ing the conditions of a foreign foe. Just refer to the dispatches and read such names as there appear. And they, men who occupied high positions in the nation, appear as worse than traitors. We arc the public's unswerving un-swerving friend in denouncing such men. We ask the Republic to believe be-lieve that we really mean one thing : We defend its entirety; we mean the Union one and indivisible. |
