Show A Local o.f Magnitude. The letter let-ter of A. Milton Mui.-ef, E.yp, Supt. Pescret Telegraph line, which will be fouud on the second page, opens up a question of mure than ordinary importance. impor-tance. Evanston is rapidly becoming a great centre of business. The sole claim that Cjrinne has to importance is its position as the initial point for the Montana trade. The gentlemen who have located there, as a necessity ot business, we are certain, never countenanced coun-tenanced the manyand spurious schemes which have originated there to run up the pries of real estate. Corinne never meant to enter upon the irrigation business; never meant, in fact, anything any-thing but dollars for acres that son.e-body son.e-body else was to make productive. Evanston a centre of business. It would pay the C. P. to run western freight from Montana up there. Evanston opens in a lovely valley, with an excellent natural road leading northwest. north-west. It, has only astonished us up till now why the mail route from the U. P. R. R. has not run to Montana via that route from the beginning. At present, the Montana trade goes from the first point on the 0. P. We say, having a knowledge of the country, it 'will pay both lines to make Evanston the initial point for Montana east and west. There are but some three places of any account ac-count from the railroad ou the present stage line, including Mr. Hampton's Bear river hotel, a well known distributing distri-buting point, and Malad City. The route from Evanston will furnish a scire of prominent places, including such towns as Montpelier, St. Charles, Paris, Fi.-hhaven and other places of prominence either on the line or contiguous con-tiguous to it. |
