Show A Crazy Man's Ravings. There is a demented being known to a num-' ber of our citizens, who calls himself j "Potter Christ" He is out with a small pamphlet containing some of his so-called "revelations." He professes now to be a "writing medium," like others of our acquaintance. We have no desire of lumbering the Herald with his idiotic ravings, but must quote a little of what he "prophecies'' concerning political matters. He says there is to be another great national war, more dreadful than that between the North and South, but not half so long. The Cuban question, pushed by the Democracy, and the Alabama claims, pressed by the Republicans to 6ecure the Irish votes, are to bring it about. He pitches into the Radicals in a ferocious manner, and then got on to "prophecy"more. This great war is to be inaugurated this year or early next, he doesn't soem to be sure as to a few montlis. It is to be foreign for-eign and domestic, and is to break up the two great political parties for ever. President Grant is to be the last President that will ever be elected by the ballot George Francis, Fran-cis, look out and his term will expire in 1871 instead of 1 872. We imagined it expired about the night of the 3d of MatcH, 3873, but these "Potters" care no more for dates and figures than for any other kind of ol'iy. Nearly everybody and his entire family will be killed ;- slavery will be re-establi.shed, but as it will be again destroyed in '75 or '70, it won't amount to much ; and, finally, the very deuce will be to pay all round, with Potter in the middle. This screed will Jo for Potter. |
