Show I.N Town. We had a call yesterday from Mr. J. D. Ilowland, -in artist who has just come on from Washington, Washing-ton, and designs remaining here for some time in the pursuit of his profession. pro-fession. Though a young man he is old in experience and in travel, bas spent many years among the Indians, has painted wild scenery and romantic life, and has won for himself an enviable envi-able reputation as an artist of talent and powers. IIo will devote some weeks to portrait painting; and when spring opens will travel in the mountains moun-tains and canons, to reproduce on canvas can-vas some of the beautiful and sublime scenes of this region. Mr. Ilowland is stopping at Mr. Hammer's, south of City Hall. |
