Show Refuses to Pay. We understand that Government refuses to pay the heavy expenses incurred in the late term of the District Court here, except for the six days in which it was engaged en-gaged on United States business. The gtoundwork for this decision is, that the Territory should pay its own officers offi-cers for transacting its own businc-s, which, of course, is correct. The difficulty diffi-culty arises from the fact that the Territory Ter-ritory has been virtually ruled to be without officers, and those who were elected by the Legislature were set aside, while the regular United State." offioeis are set to do all the work that of the Territory as well as that pertaining per-taining lo the United Stales. We have no donbt that the gentlemen affected af-fected by this matter are so loyal that they will accept the decision at once and ae'uie.-xe in the wisdom of G ov-ernuient ov-ernuient in this as in all other matters. |
