Show A JUDGE FINES IIIMSEXF. The Galveston Built tin is credited with the following: The Criminal Court was adjourned at noon until 3 o'clock p.m. The Judge, however, failed to appear at that hour, and about 4 o'clock he entered the courtroom, court-room, and, on taking his seat, said : "Mr. Clerk, enter -a fine of sstUO aeaiiist Samuel Dodite, JuJge of this Court, for being ajsent a: the hour to which this Courr adjourned. " The tine was entered by the clerk. While there seems to be something uonson-i-cal in the presiding officer of a curt fining himseif for delinquency, tin re nevertheless is a high moral principle of honor involved, which is i he more commendable the more we reflect upon up-on it. |
