In some of these articles the wife of Fenn was alluded to in scandalous terms, and the authorship author-ship was charged upon Dunn. W'hrn they came to the notice of Fenn, who i son-in-law of Win. To-day F'enn and Hayes found Dunn at the place mentioned, and the former at once accosted ac-costed him and asked whether he was the author of the scandalous paragraphs. para-graphs. Receiving what he understood to be an affirmative response, Fenn raised his cane and dealt Dunn a terrific terri-fic blow on tue side and back of the head, cutting the flesh and causing the blood to flow profusely. Dunn retaliated retalia-ted with a heavy walking-stick, bruising bruis-ing Fenn'a arm badly. Hayes sprang o take the stick out of Dunn's hand, 'and received a heavy blow. Ansbro, who interposed to arrest the parties, got a blow from Dunn which injured one of his hands badly. The affair caused great excitement in the vicinity, vicin-ity, but the arrest of both men brought it, to a close. F urther developments 1 will probably be made in the courts. ' Dunn gives a different account. He snys. he had just parted from Bishop Kip, when two men, approaching from the rear, assaulted him with hickory sticks, without a word of warning; nor bad he any reason to anticipate an attack. |
