A subordinate subordin-ate in the treasury department, a night or two ago, was offered three thousand dollars, for an advance copy of the report of the secretary of the treasury. General Indian War Expected. Washington, Nov. 30. An official letter has been received here from a prominent officer, now in the west, in which he declares the impression that the Indians will enter upon a general war on the opening of Spring. The Indians assert they have been badly treated by the army officers in command com-mand near the reservations. The Denver Xews says that if any official of the United States govern ment in Utah said "I don't care a damn about polygamy," it "proves that he has been seduced by the Mormons, Mor-mons, and if it were known at Washington Wash-ington he would be promptly removed." re-moved." The Denver Xeics never was further mistaken ; and there ia no paper iu the country that would be more etrenuous in its assertions that the Mormons could not seduce the said official. As we intimated before, it is not posted on the inside working of Utah affairs, and evidently thinks the officials here are honest, upright, patriotic men. It has not learned the mysteries of the "ring" in this city yet ; for there is a "ring" here, friend News, who are trying to deceive the country much more wickedly than you seem to imagine we are trying to deceive de-ceive the people.
