Show GOLD MOUNTAIN AFFAIRS I To Build a Wagon Eoad The Rich Strike In the Annie Laurie Jan > s Long jr of Gold Mountain I writes Captain Timothy Egan of the Golden Star that he will be in the city Ion I-on the 12th for the purpose of attending attend-ing a meeting of the Sevier company to be held the first of the week and that during his stay here he will con I ftr with the captain relative to the proposition of building a wagon road frc m the Annie Laurie mill on Gold Mountain to the Sevier Y on the Rio Grande Western road about three miles north of Belknap station A good outlet from the mines of this famous cam to the railroad has been a necessity for a long time and now it is proposed by the Golden Star corn par y the Mammoth and the Annie Lrume to join together and build the read which will run overthe Narrows antf down to Mill Creek to the railroad the xlistance being about 12 or 13 miles and when the thoroughfare is completed complet-ed it will only require short spurs of al cut threequarters of a mile each to connect this highway with the Golden Star and Mammoth mines A proposition has been made to build a road to these mines from Marysvale but it is said that in order to construct such a road deep cuts would have to be made which would fill up in the winter with snow while the proposed route can be easily kept open the entire en-tire year It is learned that the recent strike reported in the Annie Laurie is of con siclfrable importance The Annie Laurie is owned by the Baldy Mining company com-pany the shareholders of which are highly elated over the splendid showIng show-ing in the property as it is stated that the strike consists of a 12foot body of I quartz in the face of the tunnel which carries values ranging from 52 to 308 in gold to the ton besides quite a fair shos lan in silver The discovery was made on a claim owned by the company adjoining the property of the Golden Star and it is believed that the new strike is an extension ex-tension of the fine body of gold ore exp ex-p sed in the Blue Bird mine owned by the Golden Star the two bodies of min tral being only about a quarter of anile I a-nile from each other It is believed that Gold Mountain will mruce a great record for itself this summer sum-mer and that by Christmas the camp I will be able to boast of the possession I bf eral heavy producers |
