TOPEKA MAN MURDERED Mysterious Killing of a Prominent Real Estate Man Topeka Kan May 13J S Collins one of the most prominent citizens of Topeka a wellknown real estate man was killed In bed at 5 oclock this morning by an unknown person The weapon used was a shotgun belonging to Mr Collins Two g ebJ g1 shots were fired in rapid succession Mrs Collins was slightly wounded The murderer stood near tij foot of the bed and the first shot was fired as Mr Collins raised up In bed The second was r fred evidently after he fell When found ic was lying across the bed Mr and Mrs Collins were sleeping ih the sitting room down stairs on a folding log bed Adjacent to the room was a large closet In which Mr Collins kept his shotgun and loaded shells Mrs Collins says that the gun was never left loaded r Collins was awakened by the roar of the gun The two shots came in such quick succession that she could not distinguish dis-tinguish between them Helen Helen cried Mr Collins I am shot In the back Get the camphor Helen and rub my back Mrs Collins bent over the prostrate form of her husband and saw the blood gushing from the wound In the shoulder Both a daughter and son were called and ran across the street and aroused neigh hors who telephoned for doctors The children returned to their fathers bedside bed-side In time to see him expire I was at first thought a burglar had committed ever the act This is doubted how
