Into shape for business I and we understand directly after the I holidays will hasten operations with an increased force As stated recently in these columns the companys property consists of the Fortune Contention and Freedom claims and Keystone lease The entire property is ultimately to be worked from a tunnel in the Fortune that ha been run about 500 feet and in 150 feet more is expected to catch the main chute A large amount of ore Is I exposed in the various workings and arguing from the recent history of the I Keystone we expect to record a largo output for the Fortune company next summer Rumors of resumption of operations at the Old Jordan and Galena mines and mill have been current the past two weeks The latest of a definite character is thni the mill will start next Sunday mcg and be run by double shift there being a large amount of ore from t the various company leases uwaitintr I uwaltn treatment Connected with this is the further statement that Manager Holden has just closed a contract with one of the smelters by the terms of which is limited to a delivery of 2000 tons of ore per month This would indicate that extensive I ex-tensive production Is contemplated In the near future The Bulletin will next I week give definite particulars of the com panys intentions if they are obtainable Jones West owners of the Snowbird Snow-bird have just made a shipment from that property I is located nearly opposite op-posite the Montezuma mine in Mark nam gulch and said to be the first claim on the south side of that gulch to ship I I ore The vein is supposed to be a con I i tlnuation of the Leona which lies over the ridge In Dixon gulch and trends In I 1 the direction of the Snowbird Tests of the ore show i to contain 5 per cent lead 10 per cent iron and 12 ounces silver In the Starlus the 100 level has been bien driven about 100 feet east of the incline and next week work will be resumed In the incline which Is to be sunk another 100 feet During the past few days rich and handsome specimens of native cop per and black oxide have been coming from the face of the eastern drift where a good streak of the truck is exposed Manager Hardy will return The Big Cottonwood Power company has just placed an order with the Utah and Montana Machinery company for a centrifical pump having a capacity of 6000 gallons a minute Mercur and Tintic have been receiving more machinery of late than for many months past and It is believed that within with-in another year these two camps will experience perience wonderful booms The BullionBeck mine closed down on I Christmas in order that its employees might celebrate according to their pleasure pleas-ure and i is understood that a great many othercompanles followed suit The mines of the state are sending In ore at a rate that Is very gratifying and even surprising as It was believed bj many that the low price of silver and lead would close down more mines than it has done Seven carloads of Horn Silver concentrates concen-trates came in from Frisco yesterday This property is shipping quite heavily at the present time and a number of the stockholders are beginning to look out for dividends Work has been resumed in the development develop-ment of the Dagmar ground just north of the town of Eureka and it is said that the ground is showing up well I Is the intention of the company to continue work accompanied by William M Ames Mr Ames will start for lrar vale where I work will be started up on the Alma ground The annual stockholders meeting of the Mercur Mining company will be held at the office of the company In this city on the 13th of January at 2 pm The meeting meet-ing Is called in order to comply with the bylaws of the company but the inten ion Is to meet and adjourn until the 20th in order to give the officers of the company time to make out their annual I reports I Is understood that the affairs of the company are In excellent condl lon Dalton Lark stock Is now being Issued sued to the creditors of the Bank of Salt Lake who hava signed Mr Reas proposi ton and three men were busy all day yesterday writing out the certificates A large number of the creditors have received re-ceived their stock and the balance will be ready for delivery tomorrow I Is understood that the proposition Is still oven to those who have not signed and i Is believed that a number of these will yet come in The Taylor Brunton sampler yesterday reported the receipt of four cars of Hum bu ore and six cars of South Swansea Both of these properties are making magnificent mag-nificent records The Humbug has produced duced over 100000 since last October while the South Swansea Is sending In whie heavy shipments right along and The Herald Is Informed that another big lot will be sent In within a short time and that on the 400 level the shaft is in a splendid body of good shipping ore World Idaho City Ida Last Friday In the North Star mine on Shaws mountain Gerard Huppertz met with an accident that was luckily not a fatal one Someone on the preceding shift had loaded load-ed a hole but it failed to go and when Gerard went on shift and went to work his pick struck the charge exploding it His face was pretty severely cut and one eye injured but whether or not he will lose the sight of it Is not yet known His stepson Clay Mosher went down Sunday Will Hatfield superintendent of the Swansea mine who was in the city yesterday yes-terday is feeling good over the showing In this property and from all accounts I he has excellent reasons to be as i is said that the mine Is looking better and better as work progresses When asked i the Swansea would pay Its regular dividend div-idend this month Mr Hatfield stated that he supposed that it would as the property prop-erty always did what was right and of course a dividend Is the right thing at all times Superintendent Ike Jennings of the Vanderbilt mine at Haley Ida accompanied accom-panied by Dan Ferguson came in from the mine day before yesterday for the purpose of spending the holidays with their families At the Vanderbilt work is being pushed In the development of the property and the company Is shipping two carloads of ore a week that will run from 50 to 6 per cent lead and 10 ounces in silver to the ton From all accounts ac-counts the recent strike In the Vanderbilt is holding out well and the mine promises to become a heavy producer Statesman Boise City Ida Dan Hanley Is In the city from the Pearl mining district dis-trict He reports that the Alexander mine ha resumed operations with a force of 15 or 2 men and that the mine Is in good condition and development work is being pushed ahead The owners are sinking sink-ing a shaft 2 feet below the tunnel level and contemplate sinking It 100 feet deep er He states that the Shamrock mine is enlarging Its tunnel and timbering It The Iron Dollar Is getting ready for its first shipment of ore |
