Stones Eloquence I Jefferson City Mo Dec 26 Governor Stone addressed a mob of about 600 people I at time jail about S oclock this evening The crowd gathered there for the purpose pur-pose of lynching Tobe Lanahan the man who ravished and murdered Nellie Ganes The governor spoke to the mob for nooiji 15 minutes urging them not to be too hasty in their action as the evidence thcr against the man is only circumstantial and it may be that he is not the man After the governor had concluded his speech the crowd began to disperse but there are still quite a number of men sti quI there GenerAl Wiekham is at the jail In charge of 50 deputized citizens and will keep guard over the prisoner all night The prisoner was later taken to the state prison for safe keeping
