Show ATTACK ON BOYLAttCE Springville Democrats Reply to an I Abusive Organ Springville Aug 16A few copies of the Provo Daily Enquirer find their way here and the reflections contained in Saturday evenings Issue upon Representative Repre-sentative Roylances utterances in The Herald interview of last Monday have aroused the overwhelming and emphatic em-phatic local opposition to the nonpartisan nonpar-tisan scheme To those who read between be-tween the lines of the Enquirers article ar-ticle it is seen to h a frantic effort scheme effort to foist the transparent upon the people that a prominence for the Enquirer can be obtained that is not given to it through the Republican Repub-lican party The sheet is little read here and its influence is an unknown quantity but its unwarranted attack on Mr Roylance deserves more than passing mention The article in part was a follows foJows There is a individual over at Springville who like our Owen in Provo is very pronounced in his opposition ver position to nonpartisan movements This Springville man has a very unsavory un-savory political record He is abhorred by the poltcal class of Democrats for the dirty work he did prior to and at the holding of the last county convention conven-tion He knows he cant get another knows office than the one he secured a year ofc ago dishonest methods even from his own party and that he doesnt stand the ghost of a chance to get any kind of an office from a nonpartisan convention The truth is he wants to cnventon mayor of Springville but there is really no possibility of his being nominated nom-inated by the Democrats and the poor fellow is so blind in his conceit that he cant see it Mr Roylance says regarding the matter I gave my reasons for opposing the nonpartisan movement not expecting to bring myself into prominence but desiring to voice the sentiments of the community There was nothing in my communiy nomination last fall that was not opel and above board and I was elected by notwithstanding the a large majority notwihstanding and private opposition of the public ad private oppositon Enquirer I have been repeatedly urged Iby many of both parties to become mayor of Springville but have declined de-clined I have no aspirations in that direction Personally I have no feeling regarding this publication I consider the source The party is in excellent condition and I am sure no Democrats will be misled by a this and similar publications I pub-lications of Republican organs I is plain that the article is untrue and written by one who desires to seduce Democrats by the scaled nonpartisan I plan |
