that property at a depth of 450 feet below the old workings The upper workings have shown a continuous contin-uous body of free milling o over 2000 feet long and 9 to 1 feet wide A controlling interest In the mine was recently sold to the Rothschilds Governor Adams one of the owners says the new development makes the ho mine not only I thq greatest in Colorado I but the greatest in North America At the Alice Mine The Alice company at Walkervllle is preparing to increase its output of bullion I bul-lion by increasing Its workings says the Standard of Anaconda Mont With this end in view a large hoist a just I been erected at the Valdemere mine which I has been Idle I for the past 21 ears s years Te hoisting machinery has already al-ready been placed in position and the work of taking out ore will be commenced j com-menced in a few days The mine is developed with a threecompartment shaft down 300 feet and by a series of seres I slopes levels and winzes I Is connected I con-nected by a 700foot level with the i I Magna Charta one of the companys j I principal mines and the lead Is a continuation i l con-tinuation of the Alice and Magna Charta veins The company has fully complied with the new law requiring enclosed cages but the first model l adopted and m now In use at the Alice mine la be discarded for the Hewitt pattern now in use in the mines of the Colorado company This device consists of steel I lattice work with folding doors and is I I in successful working order on the i orer cages at the Blue Wing The Alice I company Is now equipping its other cagasjin similar manner and the device I de-vice lalso i being adopted by several of the other companies Ir complying I I with the new law the Alice has made an outlay of nearly 1200 It will COt I I the big companies many thousands of j dollars to equip their cages a required j by the legislative enactment The encasing j en-casing I of the cages involves the cutting = I cut-ting down of the cars and some of j the companies have enSrely new gages and cars built Assistant Mining Inspector In-spector Hunter has about completed I his tour of all the mines of the district dis-trict and finds thai several of the the bottom of the shaft i and the stockholders are considerably encouraged Good ore has been encountered I en-countered and it is expected that a trial shipment will b made in a few weeks The New Sensation A A Brim and S S Phippen have returned from a visit to the New Sensation mine In Honeycomb gulch Big Cottonwood canyon which is owned by these gentlemen and Messrs Lawrence and Dinwoody The object of the visit was to get samples of the ore for the purpose of having the mineral tested with the El lis concentrator now making experimental experi-mental runs at Eight South between beween Main and State This ore carries quite high In zinc and If the concentrator can separate the lead from the zinc as successfully as it handled ore from the Anchor mine at Park City one of the plants will be installed at the mine as i Is estimated that mineral to the value of 3000000 is blocked out in this property I Is the intention to resume development develop-ment work on the New Sensation at
