Show Froiseths New State Map The Herald has Just received from Colonel B A M Froiseth a copy of the first official map of the state which Is now ready for the public Colonel Frol seth enjoys the distinction of having made the first territorial map of Utah a work unexcelled in correctness and reliability at the time It was issued and which was an authority in its own line for a great many years But with the march of progress and the many Internal Improvements and developments develop-ments of the last decade a new map has become an absolute necessity This new map shows Itself to be the result of long and careful compilation on the part of the publisher who from his former connections with the government gov-ernment surveys in Utah has had every facility for obtaining all necessary information in-formation from official documents and latest surveys Including the earliest explorations by Father Escalante in 1776 and all the data furnished the interior in-terior and war departments by emi nerit explorers sent out by the government govern-ment Its execution is in the best style the county lines being very distinct dis-tinct while the legibility of names of cities towns postofflces settlements mining districts mining camps Indian reservations railroads wagon roads rivers lakes mountain ranges etc makes It a map of beauty and value to educators and to the general public The aim has been to give every teatare and to furiish at a glance the full geography ge-ography and topography of the country coun-try Its size is 52x68 inches and drawn to a scale of six miles to an inch hand comely colored by counties varnished and mounted on cloth showing all the government surveys by townships ranges and sections besides the leading lead-ing irrigation companies of the state In brief it contains all the Information that makes a map desirable and valuable val-uable It will be remembered that the last legislature gave an advance order for 100 copies for the use of the state thus recognizing the great necessity for anew a-new publication of the kind J |
