Show A HAUl Of URGlAHS DOUBLE QUARTETTE OF CROOKS NEATLY CAPTURED Believed to Have Been the Men Who Burglarized Siegels Store Gilles pie and Parry Do Clever Work I The city guardians of the peace made a great haul yesterday when they succeeded in arresting eight alleged II al-leged burglars The first four were captured at Sandy by Sheriff Lewis and Deputy McLellan and were lodged I safely behind the bars of the county V jail The men gave their names a I Harry Casey William OBrien Thomas I I Ryan and Frank Miller all of whom i are thought to have been the men who i iiursiqri cd Siegeis clothing store on I Tuesday night They were captured on Information given by Wilson and Wilcox I Wil-cox who are now serving sentences for having burglarized drug stores In Murray Mur-ray and Sandy The men were found to have with them two dozen handkerchiefs handker-chiefs some underclothing three suits of clothes and an ulster which were tined a the goods taken from Sle gels 54 0 < > Officers Gillesple and Parry made avery a-very clever capture yesterday Gllles pie went out on a hunt for burglars and his work resulted in the capture of two men and a good deal of plunder Suspecting that the men he wanted were in the Salt Lake House dn West Second South street he went to work to catch the lot Finding the room Jn which the men were staying Gillesple went In and found one of them on his knees counting a number of watches Glllespie placed handcuffs on the men and brought them to the station but there were two more of the gang who escaped At the station the men gave the names of Terrence Jones and Warren War-ren Little Officer Parry was on the lookout for the other two men and a few minutes after Glllespie had cone to the station with his prisoners he saw the two men on the street They were on Second South street near the Salt Lake Hardware Hard-ware company and Parry Immediately followed them but he was discovered and the men tried to escape Parry was too quick for them however and soon had them both under arrest They gave the names of James Fisher and J C Dular The articles which were found In the room occupied by the men consisted of about 22 watches all of which were broken and of a rhpm vaHoti fmn pairs of spectacles a large number oC wire lampchimney cleaners and several sev-eral dozen stockings These articles except the cleaners and stockings are Unquestionably the property of Mr Thompson whose Jewelry store was burglarized a few nights ago The police here were notified to be on the lookout for the stuff and a description of the stolen articles was furnished The watches and other things answer to the description Where the stock logs were obtained is not known The marshal of Brigham was notified of the capture and will come to Salt Lake this morning to take the prisoners back with him < > S > < Lewd women forfeited fines amount log to 130 In police court yesterday Charles Watterfall was arrested and fined S2 yesterday for violating the bicycle ordinance 5 < s A brightlookincr boy 14 years of age went to the police station yesterday and asked if they could tell him of a place he could go to earn his living liv-ing and have a home He said his name was Rellly and that his parents were both dead He had come to Salt Lake from Leadville and worked for a man here but he whipped him and he left The boy looked to be an honest fellow and he was given a place to sleep for the night and Jim Adams told him that he would try to get him a place today |
