Show EUREKA BRIEFS Need of an Opera House Democratic Convention Eureka Oct 5That Eureka is very badly in need of a larger opera house was demonstrated last evening th6 event being the appearnce of the Bur tonColeman company in Si Perkins Long before the time for the play to begin the I O O F hall with D seating seat-ing capacity of about 350 or 400 was crowded to overflowing ana uy toe time the curtain rose standing room was > at a premium and many were turned away from the door In spite of the limited space however the play has made a hit in this town Mr J D Stack agent of the Oregon Short Line railway here left today on an extended trip through the east and during his absence his place will bo filled by his assistant Thomas Stew artson Mrs J D Stack accompanied her husband on his trip The political fathers of Eureka are getting things in readiness for the Democratic Dem-ocratic convention to be held here on the 19th inst and it promises to be a red hot one Today was the last day that the low rate tickets to Salt Lake were in effect ef-fect and consequently the largest sale of tickets for any of the flveulays was recorded by both roads All tickets will be good until the 12th inst Much interest is being manifested in the Utah county fair to be held at Provo and it is thought that many of the citizens will take in the festivities that are being so ably prepared Mr W T Humes is in Salt Lake on business The meeting house and school building build-ing erected by the Humbug and Uncle Sam mines by Jessie Knight are nov completed and are ready for use Sunday Sun-day evening they were dedicated and last evening a grand ball was given in the meeting house |
