the presidential campaign In Canton There was abundance of music flowers and pretty women The delegations numbered 3000 The first composed of miners came from West Newton P They arrived shortly before noon and had not been gone long before a delegation from Oil City marched up the streets cheered at ever step by the enthusiastic spec ttor This delegation came in a sp del train composed largely of Pullman cars for it contained a large number of ladies The bands preceded by the Canton troop of mounted horsemen headed the delegation Then came the McKinley and Hobart club and the First Voters club of Oil City and 45 pretty young women representing every state in the Union each carrying a i basket of flowers with streamers bearIng I bear-ing the names of each state After the girls came a marching club of 300 A large number of the most prominent prom-inent men of Oil City with their wives and daughters walked in the Darade I was A REMARKABLE DELEGATION At Major McKinleys n pyramid stand had been erected by directIon of the Oil City people and the great baskets of flowers with their stream ing ribbons were placed upon It form ing an apparently solid pyramid of roses 15 feet high After the speechmaking speech-making each girl handed her basket gr of roses to Major McKinley who passed pass-ed them over to attendants to place on the stand While the delegation was waiting for the system with which we have had the highest degree of prosperity which seeks the same growth in population popu-lation the same increase In wealth the same diffusion of prosperity every where that you have enjoyed in Pennsylvania Penn-sylvania Applause I you will but glance ait the census map showing the proportion of improved im-proved and unimproved lands in the United States if you will consider
