| Show II AMUSEMENTS II I KATIE PUTNAM The advance sale for the two nights engagement of Miss Putnam and Mr Emery begins at the box office this morning TABERNACLE CHOIR Director Stephens has not yet decided on what date the farewell concert of the Tabernacle Taber-nacle choir will be given I will be during conforenee which will probably last Saturday Sunday and Monday April 4 5 and 6 Mr Stephens states that the sixth car is now nearly half sold and that no more tickets will be sold ater it is filled unless there are enough applications to fill a seventh The excursion party numbered 245 up to last night t THE GRAND In spite of the inclement in-clement weather and the fact that the play is not uptothe standard of the company last nights performance of East Lynnc at the Grand drew a large audience almost the entire seating seat-ing capacity of the lower floor being occupied The piece will be played for the last time this afternoon and evening even-ing ingHI Y ITf1e Seventeenth ward hal was crowded last evening by a warm and appreciative audience assembled for the purpose of witnessing I wit-nessing the performance of Hickry Farm which was produced in a very clever manner bY members of the ward in aid of the ward fund which I had been somewhat depleted by recent repairs upon the meeting house or the r < J special mention should I be mad of the efforts of Miss Annie the role cC Laura Hyde who essayed rle Jessie Fortune a t wlja acquitted herself in a Very pleasingrTnajinei I The villian 0 Gilbert Darkwood by M > Mr Sam Barrett was good though his death scene was somewhat prolonged Comedy parts were in good hands a > dIr d-Ir Elizabeth C McCune shows histrionic his-trionic ability ito a marked degree and she looked and acted the part of Mrs Priscilla Dodge to a nicety D 11 McAllister a Zeke Fortune Wilby Dougall as Jack Nelson and Ed Sloan as Uriah Skinner rendered their parts very creditably while the Alderman Alder-man McKeegan of Mr Morton pleased the small boy immensely and the older folks had a good laugh The balance of the cast including Mr W R Durrant as Rankin the detective de-tective etc The ward is to be congratulated con-gratulated upon the good attendance as it shows the people are interested Jn its welfare and the receipts of the performance will materially increase the fund There will be 2 matinee today to-day at 2 p m when a good pro gramme will be given |
