| Show A Case of Great Interest Special to The Herald NEPHI Utah March 20The case of the First National Bank of Nephi against J R HIckman was taken up for trial before Judge Higgins and jury this morning The action is on a promissory note for 1500 said to have been executed by defendant The defense sets up that the note was signed in the bank and delivered to Alma Hague at that time cashier for the plaintiff to be by him filled out and delivered to one Sharp or Morgan that Hague instead of doing as directed filled out the note and made it payable to Hague Co endorsed en-dorsed it himself and delivered it to plaintiff without consideration and that such action was done without the knowledge or consent of the defendant Hickman The case is bristling all the way through with nice law points and every inch of i is being contested I will probably turn upon the question as to the agency of Hague and as to whether or not his knowledge will be imputed to the bank The case excites ex-cites much public interest and the court room has been filled all day A I I night session is to be held on the case |
