comparatively dull today but the speculation was generally firm in tone Outside of the coal shares the fluctuations were narrow and the trading trad-ing was uninteresting At the opening open-ing prices were a shade lower and made a fractional reaction but the temper of speculation quickly changed and the tendency was upward until after 11 oclock when a raid on the coalers broke Delaware Lackawana 234 per cent and the others of the group 4 per cent Edison Electrical Electri-cal of New York fell off 2 per cent and the general list a small fraction Before noon the pressure on the market was relieved Lackawana rallying J ral-lying P4 and New Jersey Central 11 while Lake Shore advanced 114 percent per-cent and most of the stocks made alight a-light improvement During the afternoon after-noon speculation was less active but prices were well maintained though the gains were slight The gains on the day range from h to 1 the latter in Distilling trust receipts New England Eng-land made a gain of V Lake Shore Chicago Eastern Illinois preferred and National Starch 1 Metropolitan Traction broke 4 on the sale of one hundred shares Edison Electric of New York 3 per cent one the sale
