Show SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION Very Successful Meeting in the Fourteenth Ward An excellent representation was had at the meeting of the SchooI I Sunday School union last night in the Fourteenth ward assembly rooms all the city Sabbath schools were represented except the Third Fourth Sixth Ninth and Twenty third wards Farmer L East Mill Creek and the south district of Big Cotton wood schools were represented Assistant Superintendent R S Home presided The hrteeIth ward > Sabbath school rendered excellent music in thn opening and closing of the meeting under the direction of Superintendent Frank B Platt The opening prayer was offered by Elder George Reynolds The Eleventh ward school represented by a large number of children from each of the four grades of the school presented present-ed a very Interesting programme Illus trating the methods of conducting the school The primary was conducted by Sisters May Duncan and Carrie Leaker The first intermediate department was conducted by Sister Sarah White sub ject The Sermon on the Mount Misses Alice Bowman Ohio Cushing and Ellen Jackson of the second Intermediate Inter-mediate department read well prepared essays on Book of Mormon subjects Elder Alex MeMaster instructor of the theological or higher department gave abrief outline of the course of studies pursued in that department His class I is favored in having a room for their exclusive use to which they adjourn after the opening exercises of the I school The most of the class workn the study and discussion of the principles princi-ples of the gospelis intended to be done by the members of the class the young men in addresses and the young ladies in essays The teacher then introduced in-troduced members of his class as follows fol-lows Sister Annie Freeze who read a well written paper on the subject of Faith Brother John C Coulam followed and delivered a concise address on Repentance Repent-ance Sister Ettie Sears also read a well prepared pre-pared essay subject Gospel Baptism for the remission of Sins Brother George Scott followed in a short address on the Gift of the Holy Ghost Elder B Goddard recently returned from the Australian mission made a few timely remarks on Sunday school work Benediction was pronounced by Superintendent Sup-erintendent Charles Livingston of the Eleventh ward and the meeting adjourned adjourn-ed to meet October 21 at 730 p m The Fifteenth ward school will furnish the programme of exercises and the Fourteenth ward the musical part of the programme J H PARRY Secretary |
