into a combination I I Back From the South Messrs John Q Packard and Robert Harkness returned yesterday morning from a visit to Texas and other states of the south their interests in those sections having demanded attention Mr Packard states that he found the people woefully ignorant on the silver sil-ver subject and rather inclined to accept the statements of the gold bugs There is need of much education educa-tion Mr Packard went out to Eureka last night Before his departure he received the information that the re timbering of the main shaft at the Eureka has been completed to the 500 level and t starts back with the necessary repairs for the machine at once Made a Good Suiimicnt Returns were yesterday received from the shipment of high grade ores made by the Morgan the car load having been sold to the Hanauer smelters The assays upon which the sale was made gave returns of 129 ounces in silver 20 per cent lead and 3 in gold These returns were of a very satisfactory nature na-ture and it is the intention of the company to make other shipments at once The ore bodies in the properties are showing up Jn good shape Gold Dnst Looks Well General Penrose has returned from an inspection of the Gold Dust group in the Camp Floyd district He states that the development work is being carried on very vigorously and the showing in the properties is highly gratifying The general will return to the district next week Elected Their Officers The members of the new board of directors di-rectors of the Ajax Mining company got together yesterday and elected their executive officers Frank Knox was selected as president and treasurer Samuel McIntyre vice president and general mann rei Isaac Jennings secretary sec-retary Mr McIntyre came in from the properties of the company yesterday morning He reports that the showing of ore continues about the same as at the time of his last visit This means that the new vefln upon which the major ma-jor portion of th6 work is now
